Understanding the Color & Surface Treatment

Natural oak can gradually fade through sunlight and become scratched or stained through daily use and general wear over time. This is why Holzer Floor takes particular care in protecting the natural oak surface. Holzer Floor’s natural oak floors are fully finished at the factory. The selected color and surface finish are developed through a series of sanding, primer and base-coating stages, followed by two final protective top coats. This finishing process helps protect the natural oak surface from UV exposure and everyday wear while maintaining its finished appearance over time.

How the Color & Surface Finish Is Created

All our natural oak floor products are fully finished at the factory before delivery. The floor is sanded, polished, colored and coated, so when you receive it, it is ready to install.

The finishing system includes:

Natural Oak

Sanding & Preparation

1 × Primer

5 × Base Coats

• 2 x Sanding

2 × Top Coats

Finished Floor

Every stage contributes to developing the final color, surface character and protective finish of the natural oak.

What Is the UV Coating Used for, and Is It Safe for People and Children?

The UV coating is used to protect the finished natural oak surface from UV exposure and everyday wear. For coating safety and quality, Holzer Floor uses solvent-based coating materials sourced from Europe and complies with RoHS requirements.

Important to Know Natural oak remains a natural material. Prolonged sunlight, heavy traffic, grit, furniture movement and sharp objects can still affect the surface over time. Proper care and maintenance are therefore important to preserve the appearance of the floor.
