Understanding How the Order Color is Matched
When ordering natural oak flooring, one common question is whether the finished floor will look the same as the selected sample.
Holzer Floor explains the natural variation of oak before ordering, including differences in grain, color, knots and natural marks (tiger marks). This helps designers and clients understand what to expect from real wood rather than comparing it with the more uniform appearance of synthetic flooring.
Natural oak starts with different natural color tones, from darker to lighter. These tones remain visible after color and surface treatment, so the final color will naturally vary from plank to plank. Synthetic flooring is generally more uniform in color and appearance.
The approved master physical sample becomes the overall color reference for production. Holzer Floor follows the approved color and finishing specification when producing the order, while the natural grain and character of each oak plank may vary.
This is part of the beauty of natural oak. The color can be consistent, while each piece still has its own natural character.
Important to Know Natural oak starts with different natural color tones, from darker to lighter. These tones remain visible after the UV color and surface treatment, so the final color will naturally vary from plank to plank.
The approved Master Color is used as the overall color reference. During production, the Master Color is placed among the produced planks to check the overall color appearance (as shown above picture).
Please note: natural oak cannot produce one identical color tone across every plank. The natural variation is part of the character and beauty of real wood.
